SR3: Statutory Resolution on Giving the General Assembly to Power of Approving the Volunteer Member of the Awareness Team
Motion text
Noting that
The Internal Rules of Procedure (IRPs) currently define the Powers of the
General Assembly in section 2.2;
This section does not currently include the ratification of the volunteer
member of the Awareness Team;
Recognising that
The General Assembly should have a clear and formal role in ensuring
democratic oversight of key positions within the organisation;
The involvement of the General Assembly in the selection of the volunteer
member of the Awareness Team strengthens transparency, legitimacy, and
accountability;
Believing that
The selection process for the Awareness Team should reflect the values of
participation and democracy upheld by FYEG;
Including this power explicitly in the IRPs ensures clarity and proper
implementation of the newly adopted procedure;
The Executive Committee requests, with the approval of the General Assembly,
that
Section 2.2 (Powers) of the Internal Rules of Procedure shall be amended
to include the following additional point:
– the ratification of the proposed volunteer member of the Awareness Team,
as presented by the outgoing Executive Committee, by a simple majority
vote;
And that this amendment shall enter into force immediately upon adoption.
Note: This resolution shall be interpreted in line with any other adopted
amendments to the Statutes and IRPs to ensure consistency across governing
documents.
Reason
This statutory resolution is necessary to ensure the immediate application of the broader reform package concerning the democratic selection of the volunteer member of the Awareness Team. As related amendments restructure the election and ratification process, this resolution formally grants the General Assembly the immediate authority required to approve the proposed volunteer member without delay. By acting through a statutory resolution, FYEG can implement this governance reform at once, ensuring democratic oversight, legal clarity, and institutional consistency while the full IRP amendment package is being integrated. This approach guarantees that the General Assembly’s role is immediately enforceable, strengthens transparency and accountability, and ensures that the broader participatory reforms can function effectively from the moment of adoption.
