MO1: Jaunųjų demokratų sąjunga (Union of the Young Democrats) - LITHUANIA
Information
Union of the Young Democrats is a progressive youth organisation that develops citizenship, promotes initiative, knowledge-seeking and sensitivity to the problems of young people in Lithuania and in the world. Its main values are ecology, eco-friendly way of living, gender equality and empowering youth to act. One of the main goals of the organisation is to unite young people with common values to seek change in society.
The organisation members, guided by uniting ideas of equality, solidarity and democracy, are actively acting not only as climate activists, raising climate change issues and their solutions in Lithuania, but also actualising important social issues such as emotional health, first job and housing, ensuring the quality of education. By demonstrating that the problems mentioned are indeed relevant, the organisation is engaging more and more young people in its ranks, who understand that by actively participating in the social activities of youth organisations, a real change can be made.
Union of the Young Democrats invites young people to join various initiatives and projects. In March 2026, the event "Days with the Member of the Parliament" took place at the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania. Fifty participants from the capital Vilnius and surrounding regions gathered for individual practical sessions with the MPs of the mother party Democrats “For Lithuania”. This event was a great opportunity for participants to get knowledge about legislation process in Lithuania and political system in general. In December 2025, members our organisation also visited a school in one of the capital-surrounding regions and conducted an interactive educational lecture on the topic of political system of Lithuania, also organised a simulation of municipality council session. This event was really a success and encouraged us to continue this meaningful work of educating young people. Our organisation also had a great opportunity to organise a summer camp in the middle of July 2025 as a part of FYEG decentralised training programme. The summer camp was an inclusive and meaningful event where the participants discussed various topics, including feminism and core European values, and learned how to build a strong and active youth community.
